Invoice Generator Help
Learn how to create professional invoices in just a few steps.
Step-by-Step Guide
Add Your Business Details
Enter your business name, ABN (if applicable), address, phone number, and email. These details appear at the top of your invoice and identify you as the issuer.
Add Client Details
Enter your client's business name and address. This is the "Bill To" section of the invoice. Include their ABN if they have provided one.
Add Line Items
Add each product or service as a separate line item. For each item, enter a description, quantity, and unit price. The total for each line is calculated automatically. Click "Add Line Item" to add more rows.
Toggle GST
If you are registered for GST, toggle the GST switch to "On". This adds 10% GST to each line item and displays the GST amount separately on the invoice. See the GST section below for more details.
Generate PDF
Click "Generate Invoice" to create your professional PDF invoice. Review the preview, then download or email it directly to your client.
GST & Tax Invoice Requirements
When to charge GST
You must register for GST if your business has a GST turnover of $75,000 or more per year ($150,000 for non-profit organisations). Once registered, you must charge GST on taxable supplies and issue tax invoices.
Under Australian tax law, a valid tax invoice must include:
- The words "Tax Invoice" stated prominently
- Your business name and ABN
- The date of issue
- A description of the goods or services supplied
- The GST amount (if any) for each line item, or a statement that the total price includes GST
- The buyer's identity or ABN (for invoices of $1,000 or more)
Our invoice generator automatically formats your invoice to meet these requirements when GST is enabled.
